Careers Education, Information, Advice And Guidance (CEIAG)

Careers education and guidance programmes play a major part in helping young people between the ages of 14-19 choose career pathways that suit their interests, abilities and individual needs. A robust careers programme helps avoid disengagement, puts school learning into a wider and more relevant context, and helps raise aspirations. The CEIAG programme aims to help our students plan and manage their careers effectively, ensuring progression which is ambitious and aspirational. The CEIAG team is committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity and challenging stereotypes.

The policy will be guided by the Gatsby benchmarks and conform to statutory requirements, including our provider access provision.

Skills Builder

We are using the Skills Builder Programme to help our students develop their employability Skills.

It is being led in school by Mrs Powell, l.powell@europaschool.uk and Mrs Simpson, t.simpson@europaschool.uk.

Skills Builder helps students to:
    • Understand their existing skills and know how and where they are using them
    • See what progress in these skills will look like
    • Understand how the 8 key skills are used in different settings
    • Achieve progress in the skills and demonstrate your abilities in these skills

If you are visiting school to deliver a talk you might be interested in exploring Skills Builder to better understand how we are working with our students on Employability Skills.

Explore different occupations using Careerometer

Careerometer can be used to explore and compare key information about occupations, help you learn about different occupations and identify potential careers.

It provides access to a selection of UK headline data relating to pay, weekly hours of work and future employment prospects for different occupations, as well as description of the occupation.

Simply type in the title of the job you are interested in and the widget provides a series of options from which you can select the most relevant to you. You can then look up another two occupations and compare. You can also select ‘display the UK average’ and compare the information with the occupation you have selected.
