The Mathematical Olympiad for Girls is a tough 2 and half hour long olympiad paper, aimed at promoting STEM, and Mathematics in particular, to girls. It consists of 5 questions, and students must give full written solutions to each question. You can find the paper here (with solutions here).

This year we had 7 girls in S6 opt to participate in the olympiad, which is the highest number we have ever had. All the girls did well in attempting to answer such challenging questions, but particular congratulations go to Faye B and Liliia N who received Certificates of Merit. Hopefully they will all want to participate again next year, and will inspire younger girls to get involved in the Maths Challenges.

The Senior Maths Challenge is aimed at students in S5, S6 and S7 across the UK. It consists of 25 challenging and interesting problems that encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency and flexibility in applying mathematical techniques. You can find the paper here (and solutions here) if you would like to take a look at the problems.

A total of 44 students participated in the challenge this year, achieving excellent results. Congratulations to the following students:

Following their excellent results in the Senior Maths Challenge, Jonas and Samuel have been invited to participate in the Senior Kangaroo, a follow on round of a similar format but with more challenging questions.

These are an excellent set of achievements, and all the students who participated should be proud of themselves. We look forward to seeing what they can achieve next year.

The Intermediate Maths Challenge is aimed at S3, S4 and S5 students, and will happen on Wednesday 29 January 2025. If you are in one of these year groups and would like to participate, please speak to your Maths Teacher as soon as possible, if you have not already put your name forward. You can look at past challenges on the UKMT Website here.
