A significant improvement project for our P1 playground has successfully reached completion, thanks to a vital £25,000 grant from Oxfordshire County Council’s community flood relief funding. This initiative was part of a wider council drive to empower local communities to tackle the increasing challenges of extreme weather and surface water flooding.
The project was made possible by combining this major grant with:
- Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS): Implementing nature-based solutions to manage water runoff effectively.
- Parent Donations: Generous contributions from our school community that helped bridge the funding gap and enhance the final result though the 2025 Capital Campaign.
Drainage Improvement
The combined grants and donations enables Europa to dig out the old soakaway, and replace it, install new drains and lay a new porous surface suitable for a playground. It will go a long way to significantly reducing the mud and surface water which have plagued the school for decades.
The Future
We are looking forward to working with the PTA to further enhance this playground.
We have also applied for more grants to continue this vital work to improve the whole school’s drainage issues.
2026 Capital Campaign
Our new campaign is focussed on continuing these vital playground improvements. We wish to upgrade the safety flooring under the play equipment in P1 and P3, install a rain garden and quiet garden to reduce the remaining mud and enhance the playground further.
