On December 11th, ESUK took part in the Sustainability in School: A Teacher-Researcher Networking Event organised by Oxford University. We presented highlights from our climate action plan and met sustainability leads from other schools as well as inspiring researchers. It was a very successful event with several exciting partnerships for 2026 for both Primary and Secondary!

In Primary, we will be gathering data on how time spent in the school’s green areas may support the mental health and well-being of our children. We will work with Oxford University to create a case study of the Royal Society project from the last 2 academic years so it is shared across the UK.We will also connect with a school in Texas (!) to share this project.
In Secondary, we will once again welcome scientists from a range of fields to speak with students, giving them clearer insight into future careers in sustainability. Students will also have opportunities to participate in citizen-science projects, workshops, and bespoke extra-curricular activities. Our Diploma students will benefit from expert input during their scientific investigations, and our teachers will have enhanced opportunities to network with professionals involved in cutting-edge educational research.
