Friday 28th March – Europa’s Creative Encounters
On the afternoon of Friday 28th March, we invited several guests from a range of creative industries to share their passion and offer students from S3 to S7 the opportunity for a number of creative encounters: presentations, group discussions and question and answer sessions. The creative industries drive cultural expression, innovation, and economic growth. They foster creativity and diversity, which help shape identity and social values. These industries generate jobs, contribute to the economy, and often lead to technological advancements, enhancing quality of life, inspiring new ideas, and keeping societies dynamic and evolving.
Huge thanks for inspiring and engaging conversation goes to our wonderful guests: Max Blansjaar (Musical Artist); Liza DeBlock (Literary Agent); Georgia Dowdeswell (Software Product Design and Delivery); Holly Gurr (Advertising and Marketing); Jackie Holderness (Children’s Author); Zohra Jenkison (Teacher and Charity Worker); Ruth McAleavey (Marketing); Trevor Mostyn (Author and Journalist); Berny Sebe (Academic and Photographer); Chaz Snell (Photographer and Entrepreneur); Zoe Sparrowhawk (Sculptor and Teacher); Alain Torri (Architect); Alex Wenham (Stone Carver).

At the launch of British Science Week, S2 enjoyed an afternoon of scientific investigations, this included experiments with Mr Kan and Mr Keymer as well as activities with a visiting team from Johnson Matthey. The company has recently established a base on the Culham Campus and is keen to engage the local community in its ambition to catalyse the net zero transition. Seven volunteers from different scientific backgrounds shared their knowledge and enthusiasm through presentations, discussion and practical demonstrations. We all learnt a lot!
