On Thursday afternoon the Schuman Hall, decked out beautifully for the Christmas Concerts, was the venue for a very different activity. Due to the generosity of the Goethe-Institut, years 2 and 5 were treated to a completely free body music workshop. This was expertly run by facilitators Sarah Lasaki and Philipp Greifenberg, who put their long years of experience of running workshops to practice in a fantastic event for Europa UK pupils – all in German! The children mimicked animals, ‘each representing a movement to enhance balance, dexterity, and coordination’. They also practised ‘synchronised rhythms’, some of which year 5 wrote themselves (year 2 was very good at providing German materials for the rhymes). This stimulated community and teamwork. A huge thanks goes to the facilitators, PASCH and Pauline Wick from the Goethe-Institut who had spent a great deal of time, effort and enthusiasm in organising the whole event.
