After three very successful years of Europa School UK’s participation in the “Schools: Partners for the Future (PASCH)” network, we were delighted to welcome Andrea Pfeil, Deputy Director of the Goethe-Institut in London, and Simone Pfliegel, Co-Ordinator in Northwestern Europe for Schools, on Wednesday 18 January to sign the Memorandum of Understanding. This renews our PASCH membership – a global network of schools with special ties to Germany. Launched in 2008 by Germany‘s Federal Foreign Office, it is a fantastic initiative to bring beacon schools for German together, offering their pupils and teachers unique opportunities to collaborate and to take part in exciting activities as well as allowing them to take their internationally acknowledged language exams at a reduced rate. Over the coming year Europa School will participate in the following exciting projects:
Mrs Wood (Principal, Europa School), Mr Marechau (Head of Primary, Europa School) and Dr Daniela Havenstein (Primary and Secondary PASCH Co-ordinator, Europa School) at the signing of the new Memorandum of Understanding, January 2022.Pop-up Escape Rooms
The Goethe-Institut in London has just launched a new regional project for its region of Northwest Europe on sustainability and climate change – we are really quite excited about the brand-new format of the pop-up escape room on the topic of environmental sustainability. Students will work in teams on different areas of dealing with climate change etc. and will try to save the world. (Link: Regional project Pop-Up Escape Room 2020 – Goethe-Institut United Kingdom)
VR project
Students will receive a brief introduction into the story behind the project and the workings of VR in teaching German. This will be followed by a hands-on session where students can experience different STEM-related subjects and companies in VR. Everybody is welcome to share their thoughts and experiences in the wrap-up part of the workshop. For teachers, an introduction into the new world of VR is offered prior to the student session. See you soon in virtual reality!

Kickerturnier
Have fun at a table football tournament hosted by the Goethe-Institut in London through its PASCH initiative and Steve Eadon from Mingalaba, formerly Arsenal Double Club. Local primary schools will be invited to take part in a fun tournament with lots of football- and German-related activities, in order to win the ultimate prize: A table football table for their school! Afternoon sessions for secondary students will then follow with a broad range of sessions to choose from, so that this will be a fantastic day and brilliant opportunity to see which careers to choose with languages, in particular German.
