S6 students have participated in Careers and Higher Education Preparation Days over four days across this week and last. They have been (virtually) to Bath, Exeter, Oxford, London, France, Denmark and the Dominican Republic to gain insight into university opportunities and the application processes such as UCAS and Parcoursup, as well as Gap Year options. They have met university outreach and recruitment teams, heard interview skills guidance (including for the online interview situations, attended financial planning and work experience webinars, have started their UCAS applications (or explored similar platforms in many other countries) and have begun their research into options through some wondrous virtual tours and open days! It has been wonderful to engage with several Europa (/ESC) Alumni, who have contributed exceptional live presentations or have recorded video profiles of their study pathways over the last few years. Look out for some of these on the school website soon – we are really grateful to these former students for taking some time in lockdown to share their experiences.
The S6 sessions conclude with Oxford University’s Personal Statement Workshop this afternoon. I am most grateful to Sally Lloyd for all her support in the organisation of these sessions. Mrs Lloyd will continue to support me and our generous team of UCAS/HE teacher advisors as we work with S6 in the months ahead. We have both been most impressed by the engagement of the S6 cohort at the start of this significant process of career planning. Well done!
