I have been informed that a parent of children in lower primary has been in close contact with a person who has just tested positive for COVID-19. I have contacted the family this morning who informed me that they do not have any symptoms. They have been extremely transparent and have informed most of their children’s school and bus contacts already via their social networks and the whole family are self-isolating at home.

I have sought advice from the DfE dedicated advice line for school leaders: the risk to the rest of the school community is very low and that there is no need to consider any closure, even partial, of the school at present. We are following the advice from Public Health England, which, from today has recommended that any person who has symptoms such as a new continuous cough and/ or high temperature should stay at home for 7 days. If you need to keep your child at home, please inform the school using the email reception@europaschool.uk.

I do understand that for many of you this news will bring this virus closer and will cause some disquiet and panic. We will keep you informed on a regular basis on any further developments.
