Puy du Fou

We had a fantastic trip to the Puy du Fou with the S3. 50 students and 7 teachers and assistant teachers had the opportunity to learn more about the French and European History in the park. Our Secondary 3 were amazed by the qualities of the shows and enjoyed their time in the restaurants and the hotel. Dr Sandrine Philippot-Gasc

Maths Art Competition

This competition, launched in Math’s Week, is the start of an exciting year long project in which we aim to replace some of the older pieces of art around the school with vibrant mosaics.

We would like the mosaics to be designed by the children. The theme is the “Europa School Values”, interpreted through mathematical patterns. These could be patterns such as repeated images, tessellating images, images that increase in size, etc.

The competition is open to all primary children. Your child may have completed an entry in class as part of the Maths Week. However, they are welcome to submit a second entry done at home.

Technical instructions

Designs must be done on a sheet of A4 squared paper (for the foreigners among us, also known as “maths paper”, i.e. paper with little squares on it).
Each little square must only use one colour
Label with full name of pupil and class on the back
Returned by 2nd July

Duke of Edinburgh Bronze

S3 students completed their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze assessed expedition last weekend in the Lambourne Downs. The weather was kind and the external assessor complemented the children on their good behaviour and great teamwork! We are looking forward to signing up S2’s ready for next year.

Babel – adventures in translation

Selected S5 students of Italian L3 have entered this competition by the University of Oxford https://www.creativeml.ox.ac.uk/babelcompetition, which called for the creation of a story or fable in a foreign language + translation into English.

Sophie Foadi with Darcey Shaw have received the first prize for the category 14-16 y.o. with a fable on gender equality, and Anna Horton’s Cinderella story against racial prejudice has been Highly Commended.

Athens Culture trip

During the week of the 13th May, half of the S6 students had the opportunity to visit Athens, as part of their culture trip. It was a week full of fantastic Geek food, monuments and language, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Along with the beautiful views, we enjoyed fabulous weather and a swim on the beach.
