Some people may have seen the article in the Oxford Mail about Oxfordshire’s GCSE results and the progress 8 results.

It listed Europa school along with all other schools in the area and Europa appeared to have a very negative score.

In 2019 100% of our year 13 students passed the European Baccalaureate, which incorporates 10 or more subjects in at least two languages with some studied to the depth of ‘A’ levels. The average grade was 80% which is equivalent to three As at ‘A’ Level.
The Attainment 8 score measures the achievement of a pupil across eight different subjects at the end of year 11 (or S5 as it is here). The Progress 8 score shows how they have improved during secondary school, compared to other pupils who were at the same level when they finished primary school.
Europa School UK does not offer GCSEs, the DfE granted us an exemption from GCSEs as they do not fit in with our bilingual European Baccalaureate curriculum.
In 2019 no student was prepared for or sat a GCSE at Europa School UK.  However, two students went to other exam centres to sit Maths and English only, a handful of other students sat language exams or music at other centres.  None of our students sat 8 GCSE exams, the majority didn’t sit any. A progress 8 score based on these entries for Europa School UK is not a fair representation of our ability to educate the children in our school.
